Interview: Kadie Scott, Contemporary Romance Author

Where did your love of books/storytelling/reading/writing/etc. come from?

My mother and my father. My mother was a high school English teacher who loves literature but also loves. My father loves history. I swear we’ve stopped at every historical marker in Texas. And history, to me is a form of storytelling. Between them I developed a love of reading. I love stories in any form actually. Sitting with an older person listening to their life stories. Going to movies (of every era). Reading boos of all genres. I eventually majored in English and minored in History.

What do you think most characterizes your writing?

I’ve been told I write like it’s a movie, which doesn’t surprise me as that’s how I visualize the scenes. I would say I also tend to write characters who I’d like to know. Even the villains and the side characters are real to me. In fact, it’s partly why some of my villains become redeemable anti-heroes, because I write them like they are the hero of their story. And many of my side characters get their own books for the same reason.

What projects are you working on at the present?

I have several in the hopper. Lol. We’re in editing on book #2 of my Love Undercover series (Max’s story)! I’m writing book #3. Later this summer, I’ll get started on book 2 for my Hills of Texas series (book 1 is set to release in January). I also write paranormal romance under the pen name Abigail Owen. For that, I’m currently neck deep in the first book of a new dragon shifters series. I’m not even sure I could tell you which is my favorite, because I love them all!

Fun Stuff:

How many donuts are you capable of eating in one sitting?

Ummmm… I could down a dozen probably. Which is why I avoid donuts at all costs. 😊

What is your go-to method for getting rid of hiccups?

I’m a traditionalist. Hold the breath.

How many friendships have you ruined because you refused to play a game of Monopoly mercifully?

I’m actually more brutal with Clue. I’ve got that sucker down to a fine art. *evil laugh*

Do you have a favorite Girl Scout Cookie?

Oh heck, yeah. The Samoa. At least I think that’s what they’re called now. They used to be called something else. Caramel, chocolate, and coconut. Yum!

How many times does it take for you to listen to a song that you love before you actually hate it instead?

I don’t hate it until the radio overplays it for months. I guess I have a high tolerance.

Finally, and this one is important, so please pay attention What do you think cats dream about?

All their evil plans to take over the world.

This or That?

Marvel or DC Comics? Marvel

Winter or Summer? Summer

TexMex or Italian? 50/50 Split Lol

Chocolate or Vanilla? Chocolate

Bond or Bourne? Bond

Roller Coaster or Ferris Wheel? Roller Coaster

The Wrong Kind of Compatible

A Love Undercover Romantic Comedy

By Kadie Scott

Data analyst Cassie Howard may be brilliant (and, okay, a little awkward), but she’s worked hard to get where she is. She definitely doesn’t need some sexy new analyst coming in and taking credit for her work. Or the inappropriate thoughts that keep popping out of her mouth she’d rather he not hear.

For undercover FBI agent Drew Kerrigan, computers have always made more sense than people, but he’d better develop some slick social skills in a hurry if he’s going to win over the too-tantalizing-for-his-sanity Cassie. Hacking their systems was easy. Now he’s just got to hack the one person in the company most likely to see through his ruse…

She flipped his hand palm up, and, with firm but gentle strokes, proceeded to massage the area. She pressed into the muscles, pulled on his fingers, and pinched the pressure point between his thumb and forefinger. Every stroke, every brush of her fingers against his skin turned into sheer sensual torture.

Done with his right hand, she placed it in his lap. Drew clamped his lips shut around a groan at how close she was to a part of his body that would love some similar attention. Instead, she picked up his left hand and gave it the same treatment.

“Is the pain gone?”

His headache was, replaced by an entirely different kind of ache. “Not entirely.”

“Okay. Let me try one more thing.” She let go of his hand. “Close your eyes.”

He did as she asked, but immediately regretted it, because now his mind could supply all sorts of inappropriate images as she touched him. He should put a stop to this, but found he couldn’t. Didn’t want to.

She gently ran the pads of her fingers over his face, smoothing over his brows, his forehead, his cheekbones, his temples. Needing to see her, he slowly opened his eyes.

She smiled, eyes dark with an answering desire. “Helping?”

Help was a relative term. Drew didn’t answer, instead, he ran his gaze over every nuance of her face, eventually locking on to turbulent turquoise eyes, unable to pull his gaze away. He reached out and touched a strand of her silky, pale hair that had escaped her pencil restraints.

Cassie’s lips parted on a sweet little gasp that teased his ears. Unable to stop himself, Drew closed the small distance between them and brushed his lips over hers. Just the briefest kiss to relieve the need to touch her like this, to feel her soft lips against his.

“Drew?” she whispered against his lips.

Lord he could become obsessed with the husky timbre to her voice and the way she said his name. Lose himself in her. He pulled back just enough to see her expression. “Yeah?”

She swallowed. “Maybe we should finish this tomorrow?”

Why not tonight? The words trembled on the tip of his tongue until he realized she was talking about work.

abouttheauthor

Me

Award-winning contemporary romance author, Kadie Scott, grew up consuming books and exploring the world through her writing. She attempted to find a practical career related to her favorite pastime by earning a degree in English Rhetoric (Technical Writing). However, she swiftly discovered that writing without imagination is not nearly as fun as writing with it.

No matter the genre, she loves to write witty, feisty heroines, sexy heroes who deserve them, and a cast of lovable characters to surround them (and maybe get their own stories). She currently resides in Austin, Texas, with her own personal hero, her husband, and their two children, who are growing up way too fast.

Kadie also writes award-winning paranormal romance under the name Abigail Owen.
