Why did you choose to write in your particular field or genre?
I chose romance because I like writing about people and their relationships to one another. And I also really like giving people who’ve had tough backgrounds a happy ending with someone who loves them.
What do you think most characterizes your writing?
Lots of dark emotion and a gritty atmosphere. Plus sexy times!
What projects are you working on at the present?
At the moment I’m writing the first of a hot erotic suspense trilogy about a group of ex military guys who do certain ‘jobs’ for people. Then I’ll be writing the second in a biker series that will be out next year.
Fun Stuff
What is your go-to method for getting rid of hiccups?
Telling someone to ‘hiccup for me’. It only works once though.
If I gave you a pencil and piece of paper and told you to draw something funny, what would you draw?
Nothing. I can’t draw to save my life.
How many friendships have you ruined because you refused to play a game of Monopoly mercifully?
My kids hate me because I refuse to play Monopoly at all. Seriously, a game can take ALL DAY!
Do you have a favorite Girl Scout Cookie?
We don’t have Girl Scout cookies in NZ. But we do have Girl Guides and the chocolate chip Girl Guide biscuits are pretty good.
How many times does it take for you to listen to a song that you love before you actually hate it instead?
Many, many, many times.

Jackie Ashenden lives in Auckland, New Zealand with her husband, the inimitable Dr. Jax, and their two kids and two cats. When she’s not torturing alpha males and their stroppy heroines, she can be found drinking chocolate martinis, reading anything she can lay her hands on, posting random crap on her blog, or being forced to go mountain biking with her husband.
THE DANGEROUS BILLIONAIRE
Critically acclaimed author Jackie Ashenden is back with the first installment in her new, provocative Tate Brothers series—a series about three Navy SEAL foster brothers who inherit a massive empire, including all the passion, pain, and desire that come with it.
THE DANGEROUS BILLIONAIRE (St. Martin’s Paperbacks, May 2, 2017; $7.99; 978-1-250-12279-7) introduces readers to the rugged Van Tate and the woman he has never been allowed to love.
Nothing about Sullivan “Van” Tate is what it seems. A Navy SEAL raised among the New York City elite, Van prefers heart-pounding action over a Wall Street corner office. But when his adoptive father dies and his business rivals move in to overtake his empire, Van must suit up to save the company and protect the one woman most forbidden to him…and the object of Van’s most dangerous desires.
Chloe Tate is as ambitious as she is gorgeous. With a newfound independence, Chloe is no longer a prisoner on her father’s ranch. But everything changes when losing her father may also mean losing her life. Even with her survival on the line, Chloe can’t deny the burning attraction she feels the moment she locks eyes with Van, her rich, rough and ready, foster brother and the new head of her father’s company. Tall, dark, and muscled, he’s the one man who she has no business being with. But how can she resist a Navy Seal Warrior when he’ll do anything to protect her?
